GUIDE DOGS

BC & ALBERTA GUIDE DOGS

BC & Alberta Guide Dogs is a registered charity. Our mission is to meet the growing demand for professionally trained Guide Dogs and Autism Support Dogs for citizens of British Columbia and Alberta, at all times meeting or exceeding international standards as established by the International Guide Dog Federation and Assistance Dogs International.

LIONS FOUNDATION OF CANADA DOG GUIDES

The Canine Vision Canada program is the longest standing program. Since 1985, Canine Vision Dog Guides have been enriching the lives of Canadians who are at least 12 years old and are blind or visually impaired.

These Dog Guides are trained to assist their handlers in navigating obstacles typically found on most daily routes, including curbs, steps and crowds. Lions Foundation of Canada mission is to assist Canadians with a medical or physical disability by providing them dog guides at no cost. To do this, the foundation operates dog guides Canada, a preeminent national training school and charity that assists individuals with disabilities through specialized dog guide programs. These dog guides are provided at no cost to eligible Canadians from coast to coast despite costing $25,000 to train and place. The foundation relies on donations from individuals, service clubs, foundations and corporations and does not receive any government funding.
