Swing into Spring 2017
Please join us in celebrating Disability Alliance BC’s 40th anniversary on April 6th. We’re in a new and bigger venue at the Italian Cultural Centre and we want you to help us throw a birthday bash!
Swing into Spring is a fun evening out and a fabulous way to connect with friends and colleagues from BC’s diverse disability community. And your attendance is an opportunity to show your support for our work and for British Columbians with disabilities.
We really hope you will join us! We’re thrilled to have Stephen Quinn, host of CBC Radio’s On the Coast, as our MC and David C. Jones, comedian extraordinaire. Brace yourself for frivolity and prepare to test your wits with our quiz game – a huge hit at last year’s event! You’ll also enjoy drinks, a delicious dinner, entertainment, live and silent auctions and a great raffle draw.
DABC’s Employment Awards – one for an employer and one for an employee – are truly a treasured feature of the gala. Please help us promote outstanding achievement in the employment of people with disabilities. Do you know an employer or employee who should be recognized? Please visit our website to obtain a nomination form and view the poster. Deadline for nominations is March 1st, 2017.
Live Music: This year, we are pleased to welcome musician Katheryn Peterson. Katheryn and her red accordion have been inseparable for years. If you see her on the street she will no doubt be hefting a distinctive piece of luggage that is regularly mistaken as an electronic typewriter case. Indeed, the tapping of her keys makes a joyful sound but hers are attached to bellows and not ink ribbons and have accompanied her on tours through Europe, the United States, and all over BC and Alberta with long term projects including: Vaudeville Vagabonds, Blackberry Wood, Joanna Chapman Smith, Something About Reptiles, Lindy and the Crow’s Nest, Los Portenos Del Norte, Melissa Bandura and Moth Orbit Object Theatre. Katheryn also teaches accordion privately, is the Artistic Director of the Accordion Noir Society, and the Vice-chairperson of the Jam Camp Society.
Book a table or single ticket: Reserve one of our limited group tables with your organization name and logo displayed. Disability Alliance BC is a registered charity and a portion of tickets is tax deductible.
Sponsorship opportunities: Show your support with a Swing into Spring 2017 sponsorship and help make a difference in the lives of many people with disabilities. Please contact us to discuss your sponsorship rewards, or click here to learn more.
Can’t join us? You can still support Disability Alliance BC by making a donation through CanadaHelps.org or you can purchase tickets and donate them so that people living on low incomes can attend.
All proceeds from Swing into Spring benefit people with disabilities through Disability Alliance BC’s programs and services.
We look forward to seeing you at Swing into Spring 2017. Thank you so much for your generous support!
